Good to know
By the lower station there are parking spaces for cars, buses, bicycles and other means of transport. Motorist pay the parking fee at the machine. (App zone: 8750)
The facility is adapted for the disabled with a ramp at the lower station and a lift at the upper station. We ask wheelchair users to bring light chairs, which have good turning radius and mobility. Companions are required.
You can bring your bike with you in the gondola for NOK 100.
Dogs are allowed, they ride the gondolas for free, but are not allowed in the cafe.
On foot: It takes approx. 45 minutes to walk from the center to the Fjellheisen.
By bus: Take the Fjellheisen Shuttle Bus from Kirkegata 1 or Torgsenteret in Tromsø city center. See departures and book your transport here.
By taxi: It takes approx. 10 minutes by taxi from the center to Fjellheisen, and costs from NOK 150-250 per taxi ride.
The viewing platform in Fjellstua is an excellent place to enjoy the arctic midnight sun.
You can see the midnight sun from 20th May to 22nd July in Tromsø. During this time the entire solar cycle is above the horizon 24 hours a day.
You can see the Northern Lights when it is dark and clear between September and April. The best time to see the lights is from six o'clock in the afternoon to two o'clock in the morning. Tromsø is conveniently located in the middle of the "Northern Lights Belt". The viewing platform in Fjellstua is a perfect place to see the Northern Lights dancing over Tromsø.
