This tour is offered in collaboration with Rissa Citizen Science, a local non-profit organization dedicated to nature conservation and participatory science.
The tour is part of a program promoting leave-no-trace practices on Fløya, the mountain above the cable car in Tromsø.
For each participant, a donation of 900 NOK is made to the local organization leading this conservation initiative.
Fjellheisen: The Leave-No-Trace Hike
Join this scenic hike above Tromsø’s cable car and contribute to an initiative promoting leave-no-trace practices in the areas surrounding the city. This project is a collaboration between local stakeholders and Rissa Citizen Science, a Tromsø-based non-profit organization dedicated to nature conservation and participatory science.
A local guide will meet you at the pier outside the gangway and accompany you on a short van ride to the cable car. After a 400-meter ascent in Fjellheisen, you'll become part of a small group (4–10 participants) helping to survey hiking trails and cairns (man-made rock piles) that threaten the tundra and the red-listed plant species growing there.
This hike on Fløya mountain offers spectacular views of Tromsø and its surrounding fjords. Your observations will feed into a dedicated program encouraging responsible, low-impact hiking on Tromsø’s most popular peaks.
